A family of four tourists have been caught cycling down a busy Scots motorway.

Police were called after the family were spotted heading southbound on the A74(M) in Dumfries and Galloway on Thursday morning.

The two adults and two children were escorted off the road in Beattock and no further action was taken.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We received a report of a family of four, two adults and two children, cycling southbound on the A74(M) and were escorted from the route."
