The badly decomposed body of an unidentified man has been found in a Glasgow flat.

Police officers discovered the remains at the property on Kenmure Street, Pollokshields, just before 10am on Thursday.

The body was removed from the flat and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Saturday.

Officers are now appealing for information on the flat's owner, Gordon Bolam, who is missing.

Detective superintendent Duncan Sloan said: "It is a priority for the investigation team to confirm the identity of the deceased and we are trying to establish the last known movements of the householder Gordon Bolam.

"It is important any sightings of Mr Bolam are reported to police to confirm his well-being.

"The time of the death is unascertained at present, however, we believe that the death may have occurred within the last two to three weeks.

"Any information on Mr Bolam's last known movements is essential to this inquiry and I would ask anyone who knew Mr Bolam, or who remembers seeing him in the last few weeks, to come forward to police as a matter of urgency, as they may have details that will assist this investigation."

Detectives from the force's major investigation team are probing the death, which is being treated as suspicious. Specialist forensic teams have also been conducting inquiries at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at the incident room at Govan on 0141 532 5415, or by calling 101.
