Five people have been rescued from the Devil's Pulpit gorge near Loch Lomond after getting into trouble in wet weather.

Fast-flowing water after heavy rain left four children and an adult trapped in the ravine on Saturday afternoon.

The Lomond Mountain Rescue Team was called out and used ropes to hoist them out unharmed.

A spokesman for Lomond MRT said: "Water conditions in the glen after Friday's rain had left an adult with four children unable to safely make their way out of the gorge.

"Personnel were lowered to the group and dressed the children in jackets for warmth, making sure all were safe and secure.

"At the same time, a technical team was establishing a rope system to raise everyone out of the sheer sided Pulpit.

"The group were hoisted out of the gorge and checked over by the team paramedic. Once warmed up - and in dry clothes - they made their way home."
