Loved ones of a Scot who died while on holiday in Ibiza are raising funds in a bid to bring him home.

Christopher Beattie, 33, from Glasgow, was found dead in the Spanish island's party resort of San Antonio on Saturday morning after it is believed he plunged from a balcony.

The Civil Guard in Ibiza is reported to be carrying out an investigation into the incident.

Mr Beattie's family and friends have paid tribute to the man described as a "one off".

His brother Paul Beattie wrote on social media on Sunday that the family was "totally heartbroken".

He said: "We got the devastating news that my brother Christopher Beattie passed away whilst on holiday.

"Christopher was definitely a one off and I can't believe I will never see him again! Rest in peace Chris, mum will look after you now. love you."

Christopher Beattie's girlfriend, Lesley-Ann Langan, posted: "This morning I got the news that my boyfriend had died whilst on holiday in Ibiza. It doesn't feel real and even though I never knew him that long I feel like my heart has been ripped out and shredded.

"My thoughts are with his family and I just keep expecting him to call or text. It's devastating that someone can just disappear from your life in the blink of an eye."

The JustGiving fundraising page to bring Christopher home has so far raised around £600.

The page says: "Christopher Beattie was involved in a tragic accident whilst on holiday in Ibiza on Friday night.

"Because of the circumstances, this page has been set up to help bring Christopher home to his family before his final journey. Feel free to help in anyway you can. Thank You."

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are providing assistance to the family of a British national who has died in Ibiza, Spain."
