The family of a missing pensioner are "extremely concerned" for his welfare after he disappeared earlier this week.

Thomas Anderson was last seen at his home in Eastern Crescent, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, by his daughter at 7pm on Tuesday evening.

The 66-year-old, who is a keen fisherman, is thought to have taken his silver Ford Focus C-Max car and police say his disappearance is completely out of character.

He is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, of stocky build with grey hair and wearing glasses.

He was clean shaven when he was last seen and thought to be wearing a khaki green moleskin jacket.

Inspector Colin Convery at Irvine Police Office said: "Thomas has never been missing before and it is completely out of character for him to go away not keep in contact with his family, and they are extremely concerned.

"He is a keen fisherman and often goes away fishing, but not without informing his family.

"He is away in his car - a silver Ford Focus C-Max with the registration number SD54 HCY."

Anyone who has information on Mr Anderson's whereabouts is asked to contact Irvine Police Office on 101.
