Four girls have been airlifted to safety after getting stuck on rocks at a waterfalls north of Loch Lomond.

A coastguard helicopter, six ambulances, a police vehicle, mountain rescue teams and a specialist fire unit with a dinghy were called to the Falls of Falloch, near Inverarnan.

It is understood a number of people required to be rescued after getting stuck on rocks.

No one is thought to be seriously injured.

A police spokewoman said: "We got a call from member of the pubic at 3.15pm, it was to assist at the falls of Falloch at Loch Lomond."

A police spokeswoman said: "Police in Forth Valley were called to the Falloch Falls by Loch Lomond at 3.15pm today, Wednesday August 3, to assist in the rescue of four females from the middle of the falls.

"Following a multi-agency response involving the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the Scottish Ambulance and Killin Mountain rescue team, the Rescue 999 helicopter lifted all four to safety around 4.50 pm."
