Teenagers have discovered the body of a baby in a bag during an alleged break-in at a hospital building.

Police have arrested six youths in connection with theft by housebreaking at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow over the weekend.

A video captured on a mobile phone appears to show the youngsters picking up a plastic bag full of fluid with the baby's remains inside.

Six teenagers have been arrested in connection with the break-in while NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde confirmed the secured building was used to store artefacts.

A report has been submitted to the Children's Reporter.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Four male youths, two aged 13 and two aged 14, were arrested on Wednesday August 17 in relation to alleged theft by housebreaking at Stobhill Hospital.

"A report will be submitted to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration. A further two male youths, aged 13 and 14, were arrested on Thursday in relation to alleged theft by housebreaking at Stobhill Hospital.

"A report will be submitted to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration."

A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "A locked building within the Stobhill Hospital site was broken into at the weekend. The secured facility is used to store artefacts, all of which comply with relevant legislation. The matter is subject to an ongoing criminal investigation."
