A woman has been sexually assaulted by a gang of four men near a shopping centre in Glasgow.

Police believe the 28-year-old victim may have been specifically targeted because she was known by one of the men involved.

The attack took place on an underpass between Boydstone Road and Fairhill Avenue near Silverburn Shopping Centre in Pollok at around midday on Tuesday.

The victim was left shaken by the incident but was not seriously injured.

The first man is described as white, between 40 and 49, of medium build and wearing a black coat and jeans. The second suspect is described as white, between 30 and 40, of slim build and wearing a dark tracksuit.

The third man is described as white, between 30 and 40 and wearing a red hat and green T-shirt. The fourth suspect is described as white and in his mid 30s.

Detective inspector Graeme McLachlan from Greater Glasgow's public protection unit said: "This attack happened in broad daylight close to a busy shopping centre and it is understood that the victim may have been targeted because she was known by one of the men involved.

"Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries, however, we still need to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident.

"In particular, we would like to speak to two women and a man, who had blond hair and was wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit, possibly as part of a work uniform, who were seen walking in the direction of Fairhill Avenue as the incident was taking place."

Officers are asking anyone with relevant information to call the public protection unit at London Road police office on 101 or alternatively to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
