Architects are being sought to redevelop the former Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.

Social landlord Sanctuary Housing Association, which won the bidding process for the site in the south side of the city, has started the tender process for the work.

It is looking for a company to provide architectural services to create a mixed development at the disused hospital in Battlefield.

The three-year contract, which was recently advertised online, is estimated by the firm to be worth £1m.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde confirmed Sanctuary Group was the new owner of the old Victoria earlier this month.

The site was put up for sale last October after the transfer of services to the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Sanctuary Group's winning bid proposed retaining a number of heritage features on the 9.5-acre site while providing modern homes for first-time buyers, families and older buyers.

The deadline for architects to submit bids for the contract is September 16, while the site owners specify that firms involved should have a "minimum turnover of £1m" per year to be considered.
