A cyclist has died after being struck by an Asda articulated lorry on the A82 at Duntocher.

Police were called to the scene at around 11am on Sunday after reports of a collision on the westbound carriageway of the road, between the Kilbowie Roundabout and the Erskine Bridge.

Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound carriageway remains closed and local diversions are in place.

Sergeant Archie McGuire said: "Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and it is essential that any witnesses come forward as soon as possible.

"I would like to speak to anyone who was on the A82 around 11am this morning, particularly those travelling on the eastbound carriageway, who may have seen what happened.

"I would also like to see any footage of the incident which may have been captured on a dash cam or by any local businesses or properties with CCTV.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Dumbarton on 101."

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
