A young man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in a targeted attack at the weekend.

The 21-year-old victim was walking down a lane in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, late on Saturday night when he was approached and knifed by another man.

The attack happened at around 11.55pm in a lane leading to Cadoc Street and Glebe Place near Howieshill Road. Detectives believe the victim was targeted.

He was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride, where he was released after receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 20s and described as having a stocky build.

Detective Constable Iain McCulloch, based at Cambuslang Police Office said today: "We believe that this was a targeted attack on the 21 year-old man.

"We are continuing our enquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"At this time, we are seeking information from the local community to trace the person responsible.

"If you witnessed this attack, or heard a disturbance in the area around the time of the attack, please get in contact with any information you have."
