Police wearing riot gear have been called out to a disturbance at a flat in the south side of Glasgow.

Officers were alerted at around 7.35pm to the incident on Kirkwell Road in Cathcart on Thursday.

At least four police vans and three police cars attended the scene after reports of a "topless man" wielding a knife at a top floor window.

Officers carrying riot shields entered the building and led the man out at around 8.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called out at 19:35pm.

"A male was causing a disturbance in a house. He has now been secured."

It is understood the man was taken to hospital for assessment.
