A man is in hospital after being stabbed on a busy street.

The 20-year-old victim was targeted in the south side of Glasgow at lunchtime on Thursday.

He was walking along Old Rutherglen Road near Oregon Street in the Gorbals when he was approached by a man and knifed just after 1pm.

The victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to a stab wound. Hospital staff described his condition as stable.

The suspect is described as white, mid 20s, 5ft 6in, of stocky build and with shaved hair. He was wearing a white top with the word Nike in black on the chest.

Detective sergeant Martin Smith from Cathcart CID said: "From our CCTV enquiries so far we can see that the surrounding area was busy with members of the public at the time of the incident.

"Somebody must have seen something and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.
