Two men were injured during an assault in Glasgow city centre.

A 33-year-old and a 43-year-old were walking in Hope Street on Friday around 11.25pm when they were attacked by a group of men.

The two victims were pushed to the ground and the 33-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a head injury. The 43-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Police Scotland are now appealing for witnesses to the attack.

Detective sergeant Colin MacRitchie said: "Enquiries are continuing into this incident and officers are studying CCTV images to gather more information on the men responsible for this attack.

"We believe that the suspects had been in one of the pubs in Hope Street between Argyle Street and Waterloo Street.

"I would ask anyone who witnessed this attack, or who had any information that may assist our police investigation to contact city centre police office on 101.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
