A hooded attacker armed with a weapon left a man needing hospital treatment after a late-night street fight.

The victim suffered serious injured to his face in the incident in the early hours of Sunday in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.

Police were called to the scene on Shakespeare Avenue at around 1.50am after reports of an altercation between the two men.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded top and black trousers. He is also understood to have been carrying a weapon at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Bruce Fyfe from Clydebank CID said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding how this man came about his injuries.

"Officers are currently examining CCTV footage to try and trace the suspect and I would ask anyone who saw a man matching the description in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.
