The family of a teenage boy missing for ten days has issued a public appeal for his safe return.

Scott Diver, 16, was reported missing after he disappeared from his home in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, on the afternoon of Saturday, September 17.

He was last seen at his home on Second Avenue in the town at around 2.45pm and family members reported him missing after becoming concerned.

The teenager is described as white, 5ft 10in, slim with blue eyes and dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue Adidas tracksuit with light blue stripes down the arms and legs, a white T-shirt and navy blue Adidas trainers.

Scott's father, also called Scott, and his aunt Sharon made an appeal to the public at Clydebank Police Office for help in finding him.

He also issued a direct plea to his son, saying: "Scotty, if you see this, please get in touch. You're not in any trouble. We just want to know you're OK and to have you home safe.

"All the family are missing you, especially your dad and your family from the Isle of Man."

Mr Diver went on: "He does rely on daily medication and he hasn't had this for days. Scotty, we love and miss you and just want you home safe and sound."

Police have so far spoken to around 1000 people in Clydebank as part of their search.

More than 4000 people have joined a Facebook group dedicated to helping find Scott, which was set up by his family.

On Saturday, officers stopped motorists and spoke to passers-by near his home and Clydebank Shopping Centre and Clydebank bus station.

Inspector John Mullen said: "Scott's family are extremely distressed by his disappearance, I would again urge anyone who has any information on Scott's whereabouts, or any information that may assist this enquiry to contact the team at Clydebank Police Office through 101."

A post on the Facebook page set up to help find Scott warned that the youngster is vulnerable and may be scared off if he is approached by a search party.

It said: "I understand people are concerned about Scott and all want to help and we appreciate this but Scott is vulnerable and if a group of people approached him he'd run and hide further which is the last thing we want.

"When and if there are and large searches the police have advised that they'd be directing them, by all means if you're out with friends keep your eye open but right now we don't want to scare Scott away."
