A man has been seriously injured after a stabbing in a Glasgow suburb.

The 29-year-old was assaulted shortly before 4.15am on Thursday in Crookston's Dermontside Close.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to stab wounds. Staff described his condition as serious.

An investigation has now been launched into the attack.

Detective constable Mark Hendry from Govan CID said: "Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the circumstances of this incident and how the victim came about his injuries.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Dermontside Close in the early hours of this morning and saw anything suspicious to get in touch."
