A man and two-year-old girl have been taken to hospital after plunging from a window at a block of flats.

The 38-year-old man was seriously injured and the girl also hurt in the fall in Govanhill around lunchtime on Monday.

Police and emergency service were called to Calder Street at 12.35pm and the pair were taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation has now been launched to establish the circumstances of what happened.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 12.35pm on Monday, police were called to a report of a 38-year-old man and a two year-old girl having fallen from the window of a flat in Calder Street, Glasgow.

"They have been taken to hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.

"Hospital staff describe his condition as serious and the girl's condition is described as stable.

"Police enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
