Police searching for a vulnerable woman who disappeared almost seven months ago have issued a fresh appeal.

Julia Chikosi, 37, was last seen by her mother at her home address in Mount Vernon, Glasgow, on Sunday, May 8 then attended an appointment in the Bridgeton area on Wednesday, May 11.

Ms Chikosi, described as "vulnerable" by police, then went on a planned excursion but her family raised the alarm when she failed to return by the end of May.

She is described as black, around 5ft 4in with brown eyes and black collar-length hair. She has a tribal tattoo on her left ankle and another on her left thigh.

Ms Chikosi has not made contact with any friends or family since then and no further sightings of her have been reported to police.

Inspector Alan McDaid, from Shettleston Police Office, said: "Julia has now not been in touch with her family or friends for over six months, which is highly unusual.

"She's also missed some family events, which is out of character

"Her family and friends are very concerned about her and want to know that she is safe and well.

"Julia enjoys travel and art, and regularly travels throughout the UK and Ireland attending various art and craft events and religious retreats.

"I would appeal directly to Julia to get in touch with a friend, family member or Police Scotland, so that we can establish that she is safe and well.

"Anyone with information regarding Julia's whereabouts should contact officers at Shettleston Police Office on 101."
