Three killed when car hits side of a house in Lanarkshire town.
Three people have died after their car crashed into the side of a house in Hamilton.
The three men were travelling in a Ford Mondeo which came off Earnock Road on a bend, and collided with the first floor of the two-storey house at 42 Dalton Hill. The building then partially collapsed.
The accident happened at around 7.15pm on Saturday.
Fire crews said the three people who died were the occupants of the car which hit the house. All three died at the scene. The driver was aged 35, and two passengers aged 18 and 26. Their names have not yet been released.
Although the building partially collapsed with the force of the collision, those inside - a couple and their 19-year-old daughter - were uninjured. Robert and Margaret Gordon and their daughter Stephanie were left badly shaken, but unharmed. They are now staying with friends
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said: "The crews quickly worked to make the immediate area safe and effectively deal with the incident.
"Although the residents of the house escaped injury, all three occupants of the vehicle tragically died as a result of the collision.
Strathclyde Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
