Simon Mensing ready for cup replay
The Hamilton midfielder believes Billy Reid's men can make home advantage count when they meet St Mirren again on January 17.
Simon Mensing believes Hamilton can get the best of SPL side St Mirren when the teams meet in their Scottish Cup replay.
Billy Reid’s side held out for a goalless draw in Paisley and will face each other again on January 17 at New Douglas Park for a place in the fifth round.
And midfielder Mensing believes Accies can spring a surprise.
He said: "The replay is a home game so we'll maybe approach it a little bit differently.
"This was a good result - for us to come here and play an SPL team and get a draw and another crack at them is excellent.
"We put in a lot of hard work and at times had a lot of the ball, especially in the first half; it was a good team performance and it's a massive result, especially for the confidence.
"We'll look forward to the replay; we had a good result last week [at Queen of the South] and this draw, so hopefully we can start kicking on from there in the league."
Mensing saw team-mate David Hutton pull off a number of saves to deny the Buddies with Paul McGowan impressing for the home side.
And Mensing was pleased to see both play well, adding: "I was glad to see David come in and do well; I thought he was excellent and deserves all the plaudits that he gets as he commanded the defence well and the defence were very good today.
"Playing against Paul is a hard task as he's a good little player; he's quick and you can see he's central to a lot of what they do.
"The gaffer said to keep an eye on him; that can be quite hard at times as he's a tricky player but we got the result and we're happy with that."
