Celtic agree fee with Schalke 04 for Finnish forward Teemu Pukki
The player is yet to agree personal terms ahead of Saturday deadline, confirms Neil Lennon.
Celtic have agreed a fee with Schalke 04 for their Finnish forward Teemu Pukki.
Neil Lennon confirmed a deal has been struck with the Bundesliga side for the player, who is now free to discuss personal terms with the Scottish champions.
"We have agreed a fee for Pukki but haven’t agreed personal terms," the manager said after his side booked their place in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
"I think the carrot of the Champions League might be a bigger draw for a lot of players. It puts us in an excellent position."
Despite playing in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds for Schalke 04, Pukki would be eligible to play for Celtic in the group stage of the competition.
The Celtic manager also confirmed the club were close to securing the signature of Israeli international midfielder Nir Biton, with the player having arrived in Glasgow ahead of the win against Shakhter Karagandy.
"Nir Biton is work permit permitting. But they [he and Pukki] are going to have to play well to get into that team."
