Barry Smith says Dundee have agreed loan deal for Gary Harkins
The Dens Park boss says they have come to an agreement with Kilmarnock.
Dundee manager Barry Smith says the club have agreed a deal with Kilmarnock to bring Gary Harkins back to Dens Park on loan.
The midfielder has made 17 appearances for the Rugby Park club this season, scoring two goals.
Harkins’ future with the Ayrshire side has been in doubt since a row with manager Kenny Shiels.
The midfielder has not kicked a ball for the Rugby Park club since being substituted during Kilmarnock's 1-1 draw with Hibernian on December 23.
Smith told the Courier: “We have agreed a deal with Kilmarnock to bring Gary back here and we are hopeful of getting it done.
“He loved his time with the club the first time around and was a popular figure.
“Gary is a very good player and he would add something to our squad. He also has a great connection to the club and the fans.”
Harkins made 78 appearances for Dundee between 2009-2011. The player is currently on holiday and is expected to discuss terms on his return to Scotland.
SPL rules prevent players playing against their parent club.
