Visa error rules Levante midfielder Pape Diop out of Motherwell tie
The Senegalese was left behind in Spain as club officials failed to sort out paperwork.
Levante boss Juan Ignacio Martinez is remaining calm over a paperwork mix-up which will leave him without midfielder Pape Diop for their Europa League first leg tie with Motherwell.
The La Liga side’s flight to Glasgow was delayed by over three hours on Wednesday, after club officials forgot to apply for an additional visa required for the Senegalese to travel to the UK.
Diop was left behind after Levante failed to resolve the problem in time but Martinez, who says the player would have started at Fir Park, says he will find a solution.
"If you know my character I do tend to get wound up and angry about things but given this situation all you can really do is have a lot of patience," said the manager.
"The club made a lot of effort to sort it out but in the end there wasn't a solution to the situation.
"I probably did have him in mind to play tomorrow but these things happen and the fact is, it is a big game, there will be a great atmosphere.
"So at the end of the day it will actually be the player himself who will be disappointed not to be here."
Diop, signed from Racing Santander in the summer for €200,000, played in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at the weekend.
