Murder inquiry launched after man found dead on street

Gary McMillan, 44, was discovered on Lawton Terrace in Dundee on Tuesday at 2.25am.

Probe: The death is being treated as murder.

A murder inquiry is under way after a man was found dead on a street.

The body of a 44-year-old man, named locally as Gary McMillan, was found on Lawton Terrace in Dundee on Tuesday at 2.25am.

Mr McMillan was pronounced dead at the scene after the Scottish Ambulance Service attended.

Police sealed off an area between Byron Street and Law Crescent following the discovery.

Next of kin have been made aware.

Detective inspector Ged Fitzpatrick, of the major investigation team, said: "A major police investigation has been launched and I would like to reassure the community that all efforts are underway to trace the person responsible.


"We would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at or around this time to contact police.

"There will be a visible police presence in the area whilst we continue with enquiries into the incident."
