Two-vehicle crash leads to closure of A9 in Highlands

The road has been shut in both directions after collision between a car and van.

A major road in the Highlands has been closed after a crash.

The A9 was closed in both directions at the Cambusavie Bends near Dornoch following the incident at about 4pm on Wednesday.

Police said a van and a car were involved in the collision. There are as yet no reports of any injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area wherever possible and diversions have been put in place.

Southbound traffic is being diverted at the Mound on to the A839 towards Lairg.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at the Trentham Hotel towards Skelbo, then towards the Mound via Shore Road.
