More than 200 jobs are set to be created as part of an expansion at Scotland's busiest airport.

A number of new shops will open at Edinburgh Airport this year, including All Bar One, Brora, Next, Max Mara, Michael Kors and Fatface.

They will join Superdrug, JD Sports and the Flutes and Tails Champagne Bar, which opened in the last few weeks of 2015.

Airport chief executive Gordon Dewar said the expansion has been driven by growing passenger numbers.

Around 75,000 passengers arrived at Edinburgh Airport between Christmas and New Year during its busiest-ever Hogmanay.

The number of arrivals was expected to be nearly 4000 higher than the same period in 2014 and 7000 higher than in 2013.

Mr Dewar said: "Last year was an incredible year for Edinburgh Airport, the growth in our passenger numbers is thanks to the increased choice of destinations and our commitment to improving the overall passenger experience.

"The expansion of the retail side of the business is a key element of our success. The fact is that Edinburgh Airport's growth in the non-aero market allows us to be competitive and attract more airlines and more routes in and out of Scotland's capital.

"Passengers have been taking full advantage of our excellent retail options like never before. And indeed all Edinburgh Airport passengers are benefiting with enhanced choice of destinations, including the 26 new routes between this winter and next summer.

"This strategy has not only seen passenger number grow to record levels, it benefits airlines too. It is good for us, good for our customers and ultimately - with the creation of more jobs and enhanced connectivity from the nation's capital city - it is good for Scotland."
