A search is under way for a missing 15-year-old who was last seen leaving for school on Monday.

Lewis Watson failed to turn up for classes at Broughton High School in Edinburgh after leaving his home in Granton Mill Drive.

He has not yet returned home and Police Scotland have urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.

Lewis is described as white, 5ft 6in tall with a slim build, blue eyes and short blond hair. When he left for school he was wearing his Broughton High School uniform but he may have since changed his clothing, police said.

Sergeant Matt King, from Drylaw police station, said: "Lewis is very familiar with the Drylaw area of Edinburgh, but is also confident in travelling around other parts of the city and so we are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have seen him since Monday, January 11.

"Anyone with information that can help us find Lewis is asked to contact Police immediately."
