A country singer from Fife with terminal cancer has launched a crowdfunding bid to enable her to record one final album.

Jackie Storrar, who lives in Kirkcaldy, said the disease has not yet robbed her of her voice but it will eventually, so time is of the essence.

The singer, who was inducted into the British Country Music Hall of Fame last year, wants to end her 30-year singing career on a high by recording an album with her long-time collaborator and husband Steve Thiebault.

She is trying to raise £10,000 to make the album a reality and has pledged all proceeds to the charity that has supported her through treatment, Maggie's Cancer Care.

The couple spent their adult lives travelling the world working as radio presenters and musicians.

Mrs Storrar was first diagnosed with cancer six years ago and came through the ordeal but in 2013 she was told the cancer had returned and this time it was terminal.

She said: "I would like to feel I have left something special that Steve and I had done together. It would be my legacy.

"It’s been a huge struggle against the odds to reach this point. And being inducted into the British Country Music Hall of Fame has given me an incredible boost.

"I would just love to get back into the studio for one last time and create an album which sums up the music I love the most.

"I’d like to use it to raise funds for Maggie’s Centres. Our local Fife centre has been such an enormous place of support for myself and my husband. We’d love to give something back."

The crowdfunding appeal is open until February 4 and anything raised above the £10,000 target will go straight to the charity.
