A TSB Bank in Kirkcaldy has been targeted by a pair of armed robbers who threatened staff with a gun and a crowbar before making their escape on two mountain bikes.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Fife at around 10.40am on Friday.

Police confirmed two men entered the bank on Dunearn Drive and threatened staff with a handgun and crowbar while demanding cash.

The men then made off on two bicycles along Alford Avenue with the stolen money, believed to be a four figure sum. They were both wearing dark clothing including black caps and were carrying green plastic bags.

It is understood no one has been detained over the incident yet and police are now appealing for anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.

Local area commander, chief inspector Stevie Hamilton, said: "Fortunately no one was injured in what was a frightening incident for the staff and customers at the bank.

"Officers are currently speaking to witnesses, carrying out searches of the area and making inquiries at neighbouring premises.

"The two men approached on bikes from Alford Avenue and left again in the same direction, so I'm keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them before or after the robbery so we can establish their movements.

"Officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area so anyone with any information can speak to them.

"Anyone with information is asked to phone Kirkcaldy CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
