A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a baby girl.

Hayley Davidson was found with serious injuries in a flat in Buckhaven, Fife, on Sunday, February 14.

The five-month-old was in a critical condition at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and died on Wednesday, February 17.

Gordon McKay, 36, was arrested and charged in connection with Hayley's death over the weekend.

McKay, who was charged with murder and assault to severe injury, made a brief appearance at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

McKay is expected to appear at court again within a week.
