A farm partnership has been fined £45,000 following the death of a teenager on a Borders farm.

Zach Fox, 19, from Hawick, Roxburghshire, died after being submerged in oilseed rape while trying to clear a blockage in a grain bin.

The accident happened at Deanfoot Farm near Denholm on August 1, 2014.

At Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, Seamore Farming admitted breaches in health and safety which led to the teenager's death.

The court was told that business partner James Manners attempted in vain to save Mr Fox as he slowly submerged into the oilseed rape.
