Family members have paid tribute to a mother-of-four who died in a fatal collision in the Scottish Borders earlier this month.

Kirsty Parker was killed when her Vauxhall Zafira collided with a Peugeot 207 on the A698 near Denholm on the afternoon of Thursday 11 February.

Her three youngest children, who were in the vehicle at the time but survived with non-life threatening injuries, have since been discharged from hospital.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, Ms Parker's family spoke both of their grief and happy memories:

“Kirsty was devoted to her family and we are still trying to come to terms with our tragic loss.

"She was a much loved mum to Jessica, 16, Kyle, 12, Mackenzie, 9, and John Paul, 2, and planned to tie the knot with her fiancé, Chris, in September.

“As a family we enjoyed many trips to the countryside to walk, camp and fish and we will cherish these fond memories forever.

“We’d like to thank the local community for all their support so far at what has been an incredibly difficult time.

"We understand that officers are still trying to trace witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision, and would ask anyone who can help police with their enquiries to come forward."

The police investigation is ongoing and officers would like to hear from anyone travelling through the area at the time who might have witnessed either vehicle before the collision.

Anyone with any information relating to the crash should contact Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
