A 70-year-old woman who died in a crash between a van and car which left two others injured has been named by police.

Margaret Jamieson died in the collision which happened on the A703 in the Scottish Borders at around 4.40pm on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision Leadburn and Peebles, north of Redscarhead.

Ms Jamieson was driving a Nissan Quashqai when it collided with a Volkswagen Caddy. A man and women were also injured and taken to hospital.

Police named the crash victim on Thursday and issued a fresh appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

A statement said: "Police in the Scottish Borders can now confirm the identity of a woman who died following a road collision on the A703 near Peebles on Monday.

"She was 70-year-old Margaret Jamieson from Peebles. Margaret sustained fatal injuries when the Nissan Quashqai she was driving was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Caddy.

"Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and anyone with information that can assist Road Policing Officers with their investigation is asked to come forward."

A diversion was put in place north of Eddleston, at the Leadburn junction, and the road was closed for around eight hours.
