A male motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with leg injuries after a two-vehicle crash on a busy city street.

The Suzuki motorbike and Renault Clio collided on Salamander Road in Leith, Edinburgh, shortly after 4.30pm on Monday.

Salamander Street was closed between Seafield Place and Baltic Street but reopened at 5.40pm.

A police spokesman said: "We are currently attending a road traffic collision on Salamander Street in the north of Edinburgh.

"The incident, involving a grey coloured Renault Clio and the Suzuki motorbike, happened shortly before 4.40pm on Monday, near to the junction with Carron Place.

"A male motorcyclist sustained a minor leg injury and has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention. No other injuries have been reported at this time."
