A teenager accused of singing sectarian songs ahead of a Scottish Premiership football match has been banned from football matches.

The 17-year-old from Edinburgh, who cannot be named, is alleged to have sung sectarian songs on the way to the Dundee United v Heart of Midlothian match in February.

The offence comes under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act.

It is alleged the teenager sang a sectarian song and made sectarian remarks in Union Street near Dundee Train Station and engaged in behaviour that was likely or would be likely to incite public disorder.

The 17-year-old pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on the condition he does not attend any regulated football match in the UK ahead of trial.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael at Dundee Sheriff Court set a trial date in June.
