A major road in Edinburgh has been closed to all traffic after a bus crashed into a wall.

The single decker number 21 Lothian bus collided with the wall after hitting a suspected oil spill on Queensferry Road near the junction with Clermiston Road North.

No one was injured in the incident, which happened at around 3.10pm on Tuesday.

Police officers are directing traffic in both directions while council roads workers attempt to clear the site.

A police spokesman said: "Queensferry Road is closed in both directions at Clermiston Road North following a collision involving a bus around 3.10pm.

"We are working hard with the council to clear the road. Drivers are asked to follow the local diversions until the road reopens. No one was injured in the collision."
