Three men have been charged with hare coursing offences in East Lothian.

Police arrested three men, aged 23, 26 and 31, on Wednesday in Gifford.

A vehicle the trio were using has also been seized and bail conditions have been put in place to ban any of the individuals from returning to the East Lothian countryside.

The latest arrests follow a string of similar cases in the area.

Inspector Alan Hogarth said: "Hare coursing is an utterly barbaric practice, which not only inflicts great suffering on the animal but is widely condemned by our communities.

"This crime will not be tolerated within East Lothian and anyone found to be involved will be robustly dealt with.

"Anyone wishing to report incidents of hare coursing can do so by contacting us on 101."
