Man arrested after serious attack on teenager at bus stop
The 17-year-old victim needed surgery on two fractures to his jaw after the assault.
A man has been arrested after an assault in Midlothian that left a teenager needing surgery.
The 17-year-old victim had just got off the number 3 Lothian Buses service at Bogwood Road in Mayfield when he was attacked on Wednesday, March 30 at around 5.45pm. He suffered two fractures to his jaw.
A public appeal to passengers on the Edinburgh to Mayfield bus led officers to trace a 19-year-old man.
He has been reported to the procurator fiscal and is expected to appear in court in due course.
Detective constable William Dickson from Dalkeith CID said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who came forward and assisted with our inquiry.
"Such violent behaviour is completely unacceptable and I can assure the local community that we treat such incidents extremely seriously and will do all that we can to arrest those responsible."
