Inventors young and old are set to descend on Edinburgh this Sunday for the fourth Mini Maker Faire.

The Faire brings together more than 60 "makers" showcasing inventions including a robot football table, virtual reality headsets, stop-motion animation and a fire-breathing spider dubbed Flaming Eck.

The event, which closes the 2016 Edinburgh International Science Festival, will "celebrate the diversity of human creativity under one big roof", say organisers.

Creative director Amanda Tyndall said: "Edinburgh Mini Maker Faire is the perfect event to end this year's Science Festival.

"It gives us an opportunity to showcase creativity and innovation to inspire visitors of all ages. Whether it's an opportunity to engage with robots, design virtual worlds or learn a new skill with hands on workshops, this event is evidence of the vital role of creativity in scientific innovation."

The Faire takes place between 10am and 5pm at Summerhall in Edinburgh. Tickets are £6 on the Science Festival website, with free entry for under threes.
