An elderly woman who died after being hit by a bin lorry in Edinburgh has been named by police.

Moira McKeeman, 86, was struck by the vehicle on Morningside Road, near Jordan Lane, at about 11.45am on Sunday.

A major police probe is continuing into the circumstances of the collision.

Officers have appealed for two men who are believed to have witnessed the incident to come forward.

One of the men was seen standing outside Stefanos Chip Shop and the other crossed the same stretch of road just before the crash.

Police are also looking for an elderly couple who were standing outside the Brothers Barbers around the time of the crash. The woman was wearing a fur hat.
