An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a young driver was assaulted while waiting at traffic lights in her car.

The woman was driving to work in Uphall, West Lothian, when she was attacked on Tuesday.

She was waiting at the traffic lights on Station Road at the junction with the A89 at around 2pm when the incident happened.

Police said the teenager was punched through an open window on the head and body.

Following an appeal on Wednesday afternoon, officers confirmed an 18-year-old man had been arrested.

He is scheduled to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Thursday.
