A body found near an East Lothian sewage works has been identified.

A member of the public found the body near the Haddington plant around 6pm on Monday. Police were contacted and officers launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

On Wednesday a spokeswoman said the body had been identified as local man Andrew Gillies, who was last seen in the Riverside area of Haddington on Saturday.

Inquiries are continuing, but police said there appear to be no suspicious circumstances around the 33-year-old's death.

Anyone who saw Mr Gillies between 11.30am on Saturday and 6am on Monday is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
