A motorbike involved in a fatal crash that claimed the life of the 14-year-old driver is suspected to have been stolen.

Brad Williamson died after the bike he was driving collided with a Toyota Aygo on Silverknowes Road, Edinburgh, on Friday.

His passenger, also 14, is in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

It is understood one line of inquiry being pursued by police is that the white Vertigo motorbike had been stolen.

Investigations are at an early stage and witnesses to the crash are being urged to come forward.

Both vehicles had been travelling northbound at the time of the collision.

The 39-year-old driver of the Aygo was uninjured.

Detectives want to trace the driver of a white Mercedes limousine, which was travelling north on Silverknowes Road around the time of the crash.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid to Brad online, while flowers and messages have been left at the scene, near Silverknowes Court.

One mourner said Brad, who succumbed to his injuries at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children on Saturday morning, was "loved by everyone".

Anyone with information about the crash should call police on 101.
