A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Glenrothes.

Ian Goodall, 54, was found dead in his home in Minto Crescent on Saturday.

On Monday, a 25-year-old man appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff court charged with his murder.

Police have issued an appeal for information and will carry out patrols near the area near where Mr Goodall was found.

Detective inspector Stuart Wilson, of the Major Investigation Team (MIT), said: "An extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding Ian's death.

"We'd urge anyone who may have seen Ian in the local area, or anyone entering or leaving his home between midnight and 9.40am on Saturday, to get in touch as soon as possible.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be vital in helping us to form a wider picture of the events leading up to Ian's death."

Inspector Joanne McEwan, of Glenrothes, said: "Local officers will be conducting reassurance patrols and doing all possible to support the MIT's investigation.

"Our condolences are with Ian's family at this difficult time, and anyone in the community with concerns or information is urged to speak to officers."
