A bridge linking motorists with the M8 will be closed overnight for emergency repairs.

The works on the M8 Newbridge westbound slip bridge will be carried out from 9.30pm on Tuesday to 6.30am on Wednesday.

Workers will remove permanent shuttering on the underside of the bridge deck, which has shown signs of coming loose.

Roads operator Amey said that the emergency project would ensure the public of the "continued safety and reliability of this route".

The slip bridge, which crosses the westbound slip road from the M9 leading on to the M8, will be completely closed throughout the repairs.

Westbound traffic leaving the M9 to join the M8 will be diverted onto the M8 towards Junction 1 Hermiston Gait to re-join the M8 westbound.
