A car ended up on its side after a crash with a marked police vehicle which was responding to an emergency.

The collision happened at the junction with Niddrie Mains Road and Craigmillar Castle Road in Edinburgh at around 8.30am on Tuesday.

The Skoda Citigo flipped on its side, however, the female driver, who was the only person in the car, was uninjured.

Police said the officers suffered minor injuries, however no one required hospital treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "While responding to an emergency call, a marked police vehicle was involved in a collision with another car on Niddrie Mains Road at around 8.35am on Tuesday.

"As a result, the Skoda Citigo overturned onto its side requiring the attendance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Road policing officers are now conducting inquiries at the scene to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision."
