The family of a grandfather found murdered in his home in Glenrothes say they have been left "devastated."

Ian Goodall, 54, was found dead in his home in Minto Crescent on Saturday.

Police are continuing to investigate the murder and have appealed for information.

His family released a statement through Police Scotland saying: "We are devastated by the sudden loss of Ian who was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Ian had a heart of pure gold and lived life to the full.

"We will miss him and didn't expect him to be taken from us so soon. If anyone can help the police with their enquiries, please get in touch."

On Monday, Lewis Henry Thomson, 25, of Glenrothes, appeared in private at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court over the death.

He made no plea or declaration to charges of murder and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Detective inspector Stuart Wilson, of the Major Investigation Team, said: "An investigation is still ongoing to establish the full circumstances leading up to Ian's death.

"We're appealing for those with any information that may help with our enquiries to contact us."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
