Rangers captain Lee Wallace has admitted speeding at nearly 100mph.

The 28-year-old was fined £250 and given four penalty points at Livingston Justice of the Peace Court over the incident on the M9 on March 16.

He had earlier pleaded guilty by letter to driving his Audi A5 on the motorway at 96mph.

Wallace, who lives in Barnton, Edinburgh, was caught by police near Linlithgow in West Lothian.

Justice of the peace Neil Polwart ordered him to appear personally for sentence.

The defender started his football career with Hearts in his home city and went on to play for Scotland.

In 2009, Wallace was fined £1100 after he admitted a bust up outside a busy nightclub in Edinburgh city centre.

He admitted shouting at bouncers and threatening  police when he was refused entry to the Lava and Ignite in Tolcross.

In 2006, Wallace was fined £1500 for possessing an airgun, having initially been charged with being in possession of a loaded firearm, at Sighthill Green in the city.
