Police are investigating after a man exposed himself to a girl in Fife.

The incident took place between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday on a footpath near to a public park on Park Road in Cowdenbeath.

The 11-year-old girl was walking in the area when she encountered a man who exposed himself to her.

She immediately returned home and told her parents, who then raised the alarm with police.

Officers in Fife are now investigating and have urged anyone who can help identify the suspect to come forward.

He is described as in his 30s, bald, clean shaven, around 5ft 9ins and has a very thin build.

The man was wearing a green jacket, a green top with flowers on it, dark blue skinny jeans and black shoes. He may regularly walk in the area.

The girl believes she passed an elderly man walking a black and white dog before the incident.

Detective constable Dale Hendry, of Dunfermline, said: "Between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday, June 18, the 11-year-old victim was walking on a footpath when she encountered this man who indecently exposed himself to her.

"Whilst the man did not attempt to approach her and she was not harmed, this has obviously been very upsetting for her and we are appealing for anyone who recognises the description or who may have been in the area and seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact the police."

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact police on 101, or alternatively they can contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be provided anonymously.
